TURF

Artificial turf soccer shoes have shorter studs than artificial grass and firm ground cleats because this type of turf is typically very thin. There are more studs on an artificial turf shoe than on any other soccer shoe. Turf soccer shoes are also an option to wear on hard, dry natural grass surfaces, as well as the new, long-bladed artificial grass surfaces. The extra studs eliminate pressure on individual studs, which has been to cause foot or knee pain and injury.

For additional cushioning, the sole plates on artificial turf shoes are made from rubber and not hard TPU, like on firm ground cleats. The rubber sole plate is less taxing on joints, making artificial turf shoes more comfortable for older players or players recovering from injury. Firm ground cleats should never be worn on artificial carpet turf because the hard TPU sole plate and longer studs are unforgiving on your feet and ankles.
